In March 2007 Lycetts agreed to sponsor Jamie Spencer, one of racing's leading flat jockeys and the British Champion in 2005 for the 2007 flat racing season.

Jamie was involved in the most exciting race for the jockeys' championship that there has been for years and his rivalry with Seb Sanders continued right down to the wire on the last day of the season at Doncaster in November. As it transpired, the title was shared at 190 winners apiece from 952 and 1,121 rides respectively.

Initially apprenticed to Tommy Stack, Jamie drew attention to himself as a teenager when he rode Tarascon to win the 1998 Irish 1000 Guineas, with the Irish Apprentice Championship following in 1999.

Since then he has won many top races throughout Europe. After a period as stable jockey to Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle in 2004, Jamie has ridden as a freelance, but with a particular association with Michael Bell, James Fanshawe and Luca Cumani
