In partnership with The Field magazine, Lycetts is delighted to sponsor the Young Rural Entrepreneur Award 2007.

Eighty businesses from every walk of rural life entered the competition to find the inaugural 'Young Rural Entrepreneur of the Year'. The first prize, of £10,000, teased out a huge array of success stories - of which our countryside should be proud.

Judges were looking for evidence of financial success, as well as commercial innovation, dynamism and a commitment to sustaining the rural economy.

The five finalists are profiled in this section.

Lycetts has created these awards, in partnership with The Field, to commend young individuals below the age of 35, who are actively involved within the countryside and have made an outstanding contribution to rural life through their business enterprises.

The range and variety of entries has been most impressive. One thing that stood out and impressed us most when trying to draw up the shortlist was how environmentally and community aware young people are in the countryside today. What we have seen this summer paints a thoroughly heartening scene.
