Hired In Plant Insurance

Lycetts offers equipment insurance to cover loss or damage to plant, tools and machinery that is hired in anywhere in the UK.

Hired in plant insurance cover refers to tools, equipment and machinery that is not loaned or borrowed, but hired-in and where you are responsible under the terms of a hire contract.

The standard single article limit provided is £100,000, but this can be increased on request. Cover extends automatically to include the cost of continued hiring charges following an insured loss.

You will be responsible for the first part of any claim and ensure that security conditions are complied with. Generally insurers will want to see a good standard of security, however, they are flexible and are generally prepared to adjust requirements to suit individual circumstances.

How to claim hired in plant insurance.

It is a condition of all insurance policies that incidents that may result in claims are reported to insurers without delay. If such incidents are not reported within an acceptable timescale (usually 30 days from the time of the incident), your insurers may refuse to indemnify you.

In the event of a claim in relation to a commercial business policy, you should contact your Lycetts account executive/handler as soon as possible. When completing claim forms, ensure the whole form is completed as far as possible and it is signed on your behalf or your company’s behalf by an authorised person. As a result the terms of many fire insurance policies have changed with a greater onus on farmers to take steps to reduce the risk of fire. Failure to do this may result in an invalid claim.
