Movement for Good Award empowers eventing charity

September 19th 2024

We are delighted to announce that we have awarded the British Eventing Support Trust £15,630 as part of the Benefact Group’s Movement for Good Awards.

The funding will help the Trust to continue providing essential support to injured British Eventing competing members or those struggling with mental health challenges. It will ensure equestrians receive the financial and emotional support they need to recover and return to the sport they love.

This donation – part of a £500,000 fund in this year’s Movement for Good initiative – will also allow the Trust to expand its reach, helping to improve safety measures and promote wellbeing across the eventing community.

“As a charity dedicated to the wellbeing of British Eventing’s competing members, we understand the challenges these athletes face, both physically and mentally, in this demanding sport,” said Ian Stark, Chair of the Board of Trustees at the British Eventing Support Trust.

“With this grant we will continue our vital support, offering life-changing assistance for riders facing physical challenges. The rehabilitation services this will provide means we will be able to help our beneficiaries at all levels of the sport overcome setbacks and return to doing what they love.

“We are deeply grateful for Lycetts’ belief in our mission and their important contribution to our ongoing work.”

Lycetts understand the demands this sport places on athletes, both physically and mentally, and their work provides life-changing support to those facing challenges. We hope this grant will help the Trust continue its fantastic efforts, making a real difference to the lives of British Eventing competitors.

The Movement for Good Awards will distribute more than £1 million to charities across the UK and Ireland, helping them make a tangible impact on their communities.

More than 1,000 charities applied for the funding which is being put towards causes supporting education and skills, rural and community development, heritage, arts and culture, and climate change and the environment.

The awards were evaluated based on their impact, effectiveness, sustainability, innovation and care and compassion.

The Movement for Good Awards large grants provide charities with flexible funding that can be used within three years and for a blend of project and core funding costs. They are funded by EIO plc, part of the Benefact Group.
